Bernadette
Patron saint of Lourdes, bodily illness, people ridiculed for their faith - Feast Day April 16
The Bernadette pendant is an oval London blue topaz gemstone surrounded by glimmering golden rays. The gemstone conveys the deep healing powers of Lourdes, while the shape overall is a nod to the grotto in which a statue of Mary, the Immaculate Conception, now stands. The beautiful simplicity of the pendant is like St. Bernadette herself- an unassuming but shining reflection of the gifts God bestowed on her.
Dimensions: 12mm
St. Bernadette was born in Lourdes, France, in 1844. Poor, often sick, and never a good student, Bernadette’s life would nonetheless be marked by a miracle. When she was 14, Bernadette received a total of 18 visions of the Blessed Mother at a grotto near her home. In these visions, Our Lady called herself the Immaculate Conception and explained that she wanted a chapel built at the place. Bernadette faithfully relayed the message from the visions- and was met with disbelief, mockery, and even claims that she was insane. Skeptical at first, Church officials ultimately affirmed that Bernadette’s visions were genuine. Through it all, Bernadette remained humble and steadfast. She became a saint in 1933.
