Saints Michael, Gabriel, and Raphael are both saints and archangels. While there are many references to angels in the Bible, these three archangels get special mentions. St. Gabriel is the messenger who tells Mary that she will bear God's son; St. Raphael heals Sarah and Tobit; St. Michael leads God's army of angels and casts out demons. The Church teaches that angels are spiritual beings, messengers and servants of God, who surround us here on earth, even though we do not see them. They are mysterious to us in many ways, but we can feel their presence and their protection.
