Regina Caeli
Queenship of Mary - Feast Day August 22
Imagery from Revelation influenced our design of the Regina Caeli pendant. Polished rays extend from a central purple-blue tanzanite gemstone to the edges of the pendant, which is encircled by a ring of twelve stars (lab-created white sapphires). Both stunning and delicate, this is a perfect occasion piece to honor Our Lady.
Dimensions: 17mm
Mary holds the title Regina Caeli, Latin for “Queen of Heaven.” As Jesus’ mother, Mary’s entire life was a “yes” to God. She experienced his Crucifixion with more anguish than most of us could bear, and his Resurrection would have filled her with unspeakable joy. Catholic belief holds that Mary was assumed, body and soul, into Heaven, and that she was crowned there as Queen of Heaven. During the Easter season, Catholics pray a specific prayer called the Regina Caeli, to rejoice in the Resurrection. The prayer dates back to the 12th or 13th century.
