Patron saint of nurses, miscarriages, fire prevention - Feast Day April 29
Small but mighty, this solid heart pendant is carved on both sides with flame imagery. It evokes St. Catherine of Siena's fiery love and devotion to God; a courageous woman from an ordinary background, she changed the world with her zeal.
Dimensions: 10mm
Catherine was born in 1347 to a large family in Siena, Italy. From childhood, she was deeply generous and prayerful. As a teen, she joined the Third Order Dominicans, living as a religious layperson in the secular world. In her twenties, Catherine began to experience intense mystical visions, including seeing herself with the stigmata (the signs of Jesus’ wounds). She wrote extensively about her visions and became a noted public figure- visiting the sick, advocating for peace, calling for Church reforms, and even advising the Pope. She died of illness in her early thirties.
St. Catherine of Siena is one of four female saints to be named a Doctor of the Church.
