Teresa of Calcutta 14k Gold
This piece is 14k solid gold, made to order and ready to ship in 3-5 weeks.
Patron saint of World Youth Day - Feast Day September 5
This two-sided pendant is a tribute to St. Teresa of Calcutta. One side, gold with three Swiss blue topaz gemstones, is inspired by the habit worn by the Sisters of her order the Missionaries of Charity. The other side, black enamel with a single star-set white sapphire, evokes the deep darkness that characterized Teresa's spiritual life for decades. The bright white sapphire is a reminder that, even when spiritual life feels bleak and God feels distant, his light is still present.
Dimensions: 20mm
St. Teresa of Calcutta was born in 1910 in Macedonia. Teresa’s life for God fully began at age 18 when she joined the Loreto Sisters and was placed in India. From her own letters, we know that Teresa had a powerful experience in 1946- God called her to leave the order and start the Missionaries of Charity to serve the poorest of the poor. This path was far from easy. Teresa faced bureaucratic hurdles, poverty, and serious illness. Most poignantly, we now know that she suffered a profound and agonizing spiritual darkness for decades. Yet until her death in 1997, she carried a joyful light to all who met her. Teresa was canonized in 2016.
